“Plasma Flowers” are filled with krypton gas, which creates a glowing white plasma, and a coating of phosphor inside the flowers provides a brilliant purple color. The design is inspired by a woodland garden in late summertime.
The lighted flowers serve as an affirmation of hope in times of uncertainty. In my video, the wildflowers glow in the darkness when I touch the glass, and then the picture changes to reveal the sunlit garden that inspired their making. For a moment, the visions and sounds of nature come to life and bees are observed visiting the flowers. With the image of the bees gathering nectar and pollen, helping nature to thrive, I want to convey a message of hope.
